Can I find out who illegally claimed me as a dependent to irs?

My taxes were done by HR Block and supposed to be filed electronically. My claim were rejected by IRS because they say that someone has claimed me as a dependent. HR Block is now filing by mail and they say that they are straightening this out after Propecia buy I sign over power of attorney to them, My question is whether or not I have the right to find out who this person is.
The IRS will not tell you who claimed the dependant, but they can advise you on what to do.
You will have to file a paper return
you and the person who claimed the dependant will receive a letter stating that 2 people used the dependants social security number, They will ask that both partys submit proof of who was actually eligible to claim the dependant. This can include school records, Dr records, copy of a lease agreement acknowledging that the child lives at the address of record.
The IRS will make a determination of who actually qualifies to claim the dependant. The person who claimed the dependant will then owe back any refund they received in error plus interest and penalties. This also raise a red flag on that persons future tax returns for up to the next 10 years.

I just asked my wife (H & R Block employee), and she said that she gets these all the time. It seems like you would know if your parents are claiming you or not.
In order for you to claim yourself, you have to challenge your parents and prove that you provide more than half of your own support. Keep in mind that if you live in your parents’ home, they get to include the cost of the home, utilities, phone, cable and food in their portion of your support.
(I’m sure your tax preparer showed you how to claim yourself even when someone else claims you as well? If it turns out you’ll lose your claim, look at the back of a 1040ez. There’s a worksheet there for you to get a partial deduction.)
No, you can’t find out who did, although the first step would probably be to ask your parents.
After the IRS receives and processed your return, you and the other person will get a notice from the IRS to either amend the return dropping your exemption, or prove that you have the right to the exemption. If both people still stick with trying to claim the exemption, the IRS will rule on who gets it. The other person will then have to pay back the extra taxes, with interest and possible penalties.
