why would a paid legal database for a small firm be beneficial?

small firm of 15 attorneys and 8 paralegals. why would a paid database be beneficial? what are the pros and cons and what are the names of a few paid legal databases?
It’s a lot more efficient than having 23 people surfing the internet for clues or spending the day in the law library.
It is cheaper than buying the same information in book form.
It takes up less room than the books.
